John Moore's stable is loaded with promising individuals and Exciting Dream is no different following a hair-raising debut performance in the Class Three Citibank Rewards Card Handicap up the Sha Tin straight.

The three-year-old made a sound impression in his only start for trainer Stan Moore as Bertie Royale in a two-year-old maiden at the Ffos Las in Britain. He settled towards the rear for jockey Daryl Holland before coming with a barnstorming run to nail Dream Cast at 40-1 odds in August on a good-to-soft surface. The third-placed Sorella Bella has since won a Listed race in Italy and finished second in the Group One Gran Criterium.

Exciting Dream ran on steadily in two turf trials up the Sha Tin straight with Tim Clark, who was on the winner Gold Edition on race day.

The gelding, with Weichong Marwing up, was crowded after a slow break from gate three and made his run a distant last. He then had to steady off the heels of Kokoda at the 800m, pulled into the clear on the worst part of the track approaching the 400m and ran on powerfully to grab fourth, clocking a brilliant final split in 21.61.

The three-year-old is by speed influential Bertolini and Royal Applause mare Riva Royale - making him a half-brother to the retired sprinter Let Me Fight. Exciting Dream has plenty of untapped potential and looks one that will be heading at least to Class Two.

Bertolini was a short-course specialist, winning twice up to 1,400m and placing 10 times - five Group Ones. He has been able to father 17 winners from 24 starters in Hong Kong, including the likes of Medic Power, New Vision and Pizzazz.
