Formula Won is just starting to put things together and should see a lot more from him next season.

A well-performed, Irish-bred, he arrived on a rating of 75 and, just like any other European horse, he has been taking his time to find his feet under Caspar Fownes

But Wednesday night's performance - his fifth run - when a closing fourth in the Class Three Broom Handicap over the Valley minimum trip indicated he is on the right track.

With Vincent Ho Chak-yiu aboard for his first Valley run from gate four, Formula Won was patiently ridden second from the rear and one off the rails about 11 lengths off the leaders Bundle Of Joy and Beauty Sparkle.

He appreciated the pace up front and once turning for home, the four-year-old lengthened strongly to go under by 33/4 lengths behind Beauty Sparkle.

He is from a rich black-type family - Dutch Art and out of Royal Academy mare Paix Royale.

Dutch Art was unbeaten in four juvenile performances in Europe, including two Group Ones at Newmarket and Deauville. His six starters in Hong Kong includes Art Of Success, who was an impressive debut winner over 1,000m as a griffin last month and the placed pair of Ka Ying Kid and Superking Dragon.

Paix Royale was successful over the mile. She produced six winners over 1,200m to 2,400m.
