Richard Gibson-trained four-year-old Mizani is once again under a cloud ahead of a feature race after shifting a shoe on Monday and pricking his hoof.

The grey was sensationally scratched on the day of the Hong Kong Derby last March when he was one of the main fancies, failing to pass a final vet examination after treading on a stone and injuring his right front hoof.

Mizani was sure to be one of the top chances in Sunday's Sa Sa Ladies' Purse feature but his participation is now, at least theoretically, under threat after hurting the same foot.

"It's literally a pain in the ... foot," said trainer Gibson yesterday.

"I'm confident that he'll pull through by the time of the vet check and, anyway, we wouldn't run him unless he's 110 per cent. It's just an annoying 48-hour headache leading into the race but we want to be sure that it's out there and everyone knows before they start betting on the race."
