The nominal favourite for Sunday’s Group One Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup, John Size-trained Thewizardofoz has been scratched this morning with a health scare that has left the rest of his campaign up in the air.
The Jockey Club announced that Thewizardofoz had been withdrawn due to swelling in his right front leg but Size said it was not the main concern with the horse.
“He has a minor swelling in that leg but he also has a temperature and I was more concerned about that,” Size explained. “The leg will be fine, nothing major. But the temperature means I have to stop with him.”
Size said that, as a result, he could offer no plan for Thewizardofoz going forward for the remainder of the season.
“With a temperature you can’t do much but see how the horse comes through it. So I’ll do that and, once I’m happy that he’s over it, he can train again and then we’ll look at the program and see what there is for him,” he said.
Size has been left with Contentment to fly the stable flag in the Group One and has no concerns with the five-year-old.
“Contentment is healthy and happy, he runs well every time he goes out to race and I’m hoping he can the same on Sunday,” he added.
