Early favourite Dashing Dart was ridden along to stay in touch fifth from the rear but finished strongly after peeling into the open 220m out to get up in the last stride for a maiden win at his ninth start. He was suited by the drop in class but appears to have room for improvement and should get further ground as well. Post-time favourite Polymer Luck covered a lot more ground beyond midfield from a wide gate but only just missed after rushing to the front 60m out. He's a winner waiting to happen if he remains in the grade from a better draw. Red Horse backed up a surprise 1,400m win last start to get up well from behind midfield for a placing. The 1,400m might suit him better. Supernatural emerged with the lead from gate 12 following a scramble for the front and grudgingly gave way over the final 100m. It was a better effort on recent runs but he's not genuine.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (463)-LOTUS BRIDGE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600Metres

STORM KID began awkwardly and lost ground.

POLYMER LUCK shifted out at the start and bumped SPICY DOUBLE.

HAR HAR CHARMING began only fairly.

After travelling a short distance, RED HORSE shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of AUDACITY which became unbalanced.

Approaching the 1500 Metres, MY FOLKS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of STRIKING STAR.

Approaching and passing the 1400 Metres, STRIKING STAR got its head up when travelling keenly.

U Rispoli (HAR HAR CHARMING) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of FORTUNE GIGGLES, resulting in that horse being taken in onto STRIKING STAR which in turn was taken in onto MY FOLKS, causing that horse to be crowded for room and checked.

U Rispoli was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 12 March 2017 and to expire on Thursday, 16 March 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Rispoli's good race riding record.

After the 1100 Metres, POLYMER LUCK proved difficult to settle and got its head up for some distance when racing without cover.

Passing the 900 Metres, AUDACITY was crowded for room between POLYMER LUCK and DASHING DART which shifted out away from the heels of MY FOLKS.

Passing the 600 Metres, POLYMER LUCK was checked when proving difficult to settle and awkwardly placed behind RED HORSE.

Also passing the 600 Metres, SPICY DOUBLE proved difficult to settle and was checked out away from the heels of DASHING DART.

Near the 300 Metres, DASHING DART was shifted to the outside of RED HORSE after being disappointed for running between that horse and EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA.

When being shifted out further to obtain clear running, DASHING DART was awkwardly placed close to the heels of POLYMER LUCK a short distance later.

Approaching the 200 Metres, SPICY DOUBLE was crowded for room inside AUDACITY by PERFECT TIMING (M Chadwick) which shifted out to obtain clear running.

M Chadwick was advised to exercise more care.

Near the 50 Metres, RED HORSE lay in under pressure.

Throughout the race, HAR HAR CHARMING travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

A veterinary inspection of HAR HAR CHARMING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of HAR HAR CHARMING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, HAR HAR CHARMING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

DASHING DART and POLYMER LUCK were sent for sampling.
