Early favourite Strathclyde was hustled from a difficult gate to quickly land a spot three off the stands side behind the leaders, hit the lead 450m out and kept on well for a first win at only his fourth start. He's got the potential to head higher. Super Junior stuck on very well following a handy run for second to prove a last-start upset win was no fluke. He should pan out to be a nice bread-and-butter type for the yard and on the back of this grinding effort should get a further sprint as well. Fish N' Chips kept up the gallop for a placing after sharing the speed with Winfull Patrol. He'll be winning a sprint shortly on either surface if he remains in the grade. Fox Hunter stayed on well after getting shuffled back to midfield to add some value to the exotics following a debut run in November with internal bleeding. He has some ability and if he stays healthy is a winning waiting to happen with more experience and maturity. Whistle Boy made ground from the back in an improved effort at his fifth start. He's headed in the right direction but will be better over a longer trip in time. The consistent Superior Boy struggled to stay in touch with the step back in distance. He can't be written off back over the 1,200m or 1,400m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (502)-FAY FAY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Metres

LUCKY KINGDOM was withdrawn on 18.3.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ADMIRABLE (Z Purton).

Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY KINGDOM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After being loaded into the barriers, A FAST ONE reared on a number of occasions.

Before being allowed to race again, A FAST ONE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

A FAST ONE then began awkwardly.

ENCORE BOY lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently began only fairly.

PRINCE HARMONY also began only fairly.

SUPERIOR BOY shifted out at the start and bumped SUPER JUNIOR.

Near the 750 Metres, SUPERIOR BOY raced tight between SUPER JUNIOR and ADMIRABLE which shifted out.

Passing the 700 Metres, SUPERIOR BOY was again crowded for room between ADMIRABLE and SUPER JUNIOR which shifted in.

Then passing the 600 Metres, SUPERIOR BOY raced tight inside the heels of SUPER JUNIOR.

Approaching the 700 Metres, SICHUAN CHIEF was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOURBILLON KING due to ENCORE BOY shifting in marginally.

Passing the 700 Metres, FOX SUNTER shifted out of its own accord and brushed the running rail.

After this, FOX SUNTER raced greenly and then near the 450 Metres got its head on the side, shifted out and became unbalanced after racing tight against the outside running rail.

Passing the 500 Metres, ENCORE BOY was shifted in away from the heels of PRINCE HARMONY, resulting in TOURBILLON KING and HAPPY GAINS being hampered.

Passing the 200 Metres, TOURBILLON KING and HAPPY GAINS bumped.

The performance of SICHUAN CHIEF, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SICHUAN CHIEF will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of WINFULL PATROL and SICHUAN CHIEF immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ENCORE BOY, STRATHCLYDE and SUPER JUNIOR were sent for sampling.
