Recap by phillip woo

Citron Spirit came with a well-timed run to come from behind midfield to wear down Home Run 50m out for a second win from his past four starts. He's racing well and should be able to hold his own up in grade off a lighter weight. Home Run hit the front 150m out after being held up early straight in midfield but found one better on the day. He's overdue for another win after giving a good sight in four of six at this level. Penang Hall wouldn't go down without a fight after stalking the leader High Volatility. He's holding his form very well of late and remains a chance when he next reappears. The Supreme closed off nicely near the outside after travelling fifth from the rear. He's shown some ability in his 10 starts and is near a bottom. Silverfield finished full of run three off the fence after travelling fourth from the rear. He'll be hard to beat in Class Four if he can get docked a point in the handicaps. Royal Performer was strung up behind the leaders on the fence until the last 150m following a box-seat run. He had excuses. High Volatility was yielding ground 150m out after getting his own way up front. He's better at the Valley.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (611)-AUDEMARS PIGUET MILLENARY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Metres

UNIQUE JOYOUS began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped THE SUPREME.

UNIQUE JOYOUS was then ridden along to obtain a more prominent position, however, shortly after the start got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of MR POTENTIAL, resulting in UNIQUE JOYOUS being awkwardly placed outside that horse.

SILVERFIELD was crowded for room on jumping between CITRON SPIRIT and PENANG HALL, both of which shifted ground.

Shortly after the start, MR POTENTIAL was shifted out away from the heels of BEAUTY FLARE which was taken out by MISTER MONTE.

After this, MR POTENTIAL was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed.

Near the 1350 Metres, CELESTIAL NOVA was shifted in away from the heels of PENANG HALL (Apprentice M F Poon) which shifted ground when not properly clear of CELESTIAL NOVA.

Apprentice Poon was reprimanded.

After this, PENANG HALL was shifted out to relieve the tightening to CELESTIAL NOVA, however, CELESTIAL NOVA continued to race keenly for some distance.

After the race, Z Purton stated that CELESTIAL NOVA did not feel comfortable in its action and was reluctant to stride out.

A veterinary inspection of CELESTIAL NOVA immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea and also found the horse to have sustained a small cut to the inside of the right front fetlock.

Before being allowed to race again, CELESTIAL NOVA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Making the turn near the 850 Metres, BEAUTY FLARE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE SUPREME.

Passing the 200 Metres, SILVERFIELD was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CITRON SPIRIT.

Near the 75 Metres, HOME RUN shifted out and brushed CITRON SPIRIT.

HOME RUN continued to lay out under pressure and close to the finishing line again shifted out and bumped CITRON SPIRIT.

Throughout the race, OCULIST travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

S Clipperton was questioned regarding his riding of MISTER MONTE in the early part of the Straight.

S Clipperton was advised to ensure that he rides his mounts competitively at all stages.

RULE THEE lost its left front plate after the race.

A veterinary inspection of OCULIST and UNIQUE JOYOUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

PENANG HALL, CITRON SPIRIT and HOME RUN were sent for sampling.
