Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (660)-ARC DE TRIOMPHE CHAMPIONS HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 3 - 1200Metres
On arrival at the Start, Z Purton expressed concern regarding the action of MYTHICAL EMPEROR.MYTHICAL EMPEROR was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said, after the necessary consultations, that the horse was suitable to race.
HO HO HORSE shifted out at the start and made contact with TRAVEL DATUK.
After beginning awkwardly, HERO LOOK lost ground soon after the start when steadied away from the heels of OUR HERO which shifted out.
Soon after the start, RIGHT HONOURABLE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of WONDERFUL JOURNEY.
From the outside barrier, SHARP HUNTER was steadied soon after the start and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Throughout the race, OUR HERO travelled wide and without cover.
Z Purton reported that at the entrance to the Back Straight near the 900 Metres, MYTHICAL EMPEROR faltered when it appeared to be galloped on by EXTREMELY FUN.
He said following this incident MYTHICAL EMPEROR did not feel entirely comfortable in its action.
He said prior to the Home Turn he shifted MYTHICAL EMPEROR out from behind WONDERFUL JOURNEY to improve and placed the horse under pressure, however, MYTHICAL EMPEROR would not stretch out and as he had concerns that there might be something amiss with the horse, he ceased riding it out and eased it down from the 200 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of MYTHICAL EMPEROR immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a cut to the right hock.
Given the circumstances, the Stewards ruled that MYTHICAL EMPEROR must perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
A veterinary inspection of EXTREMELY FUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BEST STEP and WONDERFUL JOURNEY were sent for sampling.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 13 May 2017 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of HOT KING PRAWN, LUCKY MASTER, BOSSIEE, HARD BALL GET, SILLY BUDDIES, WINNER'S WAY, FOREVER POSH, NAMJONG INVINCIBLE, IVICTORY, SUPER JUNIOR, REGENCY BABY, AGREE, DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS, LUCKY DOLLAR, MONEY BOY, KING GENKI, ROYAL PERFORMER, WORLD RECORD, HAPPY JOURNEY, TANG FLEMING, BEAUTY KINGDOM and SUNNY WAY revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of HIT A HOME RUN, UNIQUE JOYFUL, JOLLY GENE, ENSURING, SIGHT LEADER, INFINITY ENDEAVOUR, TRIUMPHANT LIGHT, CLUB LIFE, POLYMER LUCK, BEST REWARD, GORGEOUS AGAIN, MAGIC LEGEND, HOUSE OF FUN, ADVENTURER, CONTENTMENT, BEAUTY ONLY, LUCKY BUBBLES, MR STUNNING, LITTLE GIANT, GREEN CARD, TIME WARP, NEW ASIA SUNRISE and HANG'S DECISION (7.5.17) proved negative.
SUMMARY:

Fine Race 7: K C Leung (ROMANTIC CASH): $2,000 for presenting himself to be weighed out with the incorrect saddle cloth number.

Severe Reprimand Race 4: Apprentice H T Mo (CASA MASTER) re his riding at the turn near the 1000 Metres.

Warnings Race 3: S Clipperton (VICTORY BOYS) for shifting out at the 300 Metres.Race 4: C Y Ho (CALL ME AWESOME) for steadying the tempo at the 1000 Metres.Race 5: Apprentice H N Wong (HAPPY BAO BEI) re his riding in the early and middle stages.

Favourite Best Step was nicely rated on the front from a good gate and kept on gamely despite wandering a bit inside the last 150m to ring up a second straight win despite a rise in class and distance. He's got a bright future. Wonderful Journey stayed on well for second after stalking the speed. He's always a chance over this Valley trip. In a vastly-improved effort at his fourth start, Right Honourable came from behind midfield to get the head down for third at a massive price. He should make a nice impact next season. Favourite Wayfoong Vinnie had to switch inside at the 150m following a move from midfield to just edge outsider Sharp Hunter for fourth. The former appears better suited over the 1,000m. Sharp Hunter was storming home late from the rear of the field to just miss a placing to continue his fine sprint form at the Valley this season. Another running on well from near the back was Travel Datuk who appears from his past couple to have turned the corner. All Great Friends had every chance in the box-seat. He needs to strike weaker opposition.
