Favourite Gran Master took control 150m out after being asked for an effort 500m out following a midfield run for an overdue win after placing in two of four other starts. He should remain competitive over the mile and 1,800m on this surface at the top of the grade. Plunged late Five Stars Agent kept on gamely despite being pestered for the front by Elusive State. He was fitter for a run but does go very well on this surface. Sure Peace finished well two from the right after travelling at the rear to get the bob down for a placing. He's gone well in his past three starts and isn't far off a winning run. Specked late Best Effort kept grinding away following a prominent run to just miss a placing. He'll be hard to beat if he can work his way back into Class Five. Elusive State stuck on better with a switch to the dirt but may need to drop a few points further. Play It made some ground without menacing from near the back.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (41) - SHRIKE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Whilst in the saddling stalls, GRAN MASTER, had its left front plate refitted.

GRAN MASTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

HINYUEN SWIFTNESS, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin.

From a wide barrier, SURE PEACE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

For some distance approaching and passing the 1100 Metres, PLAY IT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HINYUEN SWIFTNESS.

Passing the 500 Metres, BEST EFFORT raced in restricted room when attempting to improve into tight running between FOREVER POSH and GRAN MASTER.

Near the 450 Metres, BEST EFFORT was momentarily steadied when unable to proceed between FOREVER POSH and GRAN MASTER.

Passing the 200 Metres, ELUSIVE STATE shifted in and bumped FIVE STARS AGENT.

Near the 100 Metres, FOREVER POSH was shifted out away from the heels of ELUSIVE STATE which drifted out under pressure.

A veterinary inspection of HINYUEN SWIFTNESS and GOOD FIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GRAN MASTER and FIVE STARS AGENT were sent for sampling.
