Recap by phillip woo

Silverfield won going away 180m out following a midfield run. He naturally has come to hand at his second start following a stable change and might be able to hold his own up in grade carrying a lighter weight. Early favourite Red Elysees finished nicely after travelling second from the rear to grab second 50m out. He's caught the eye in both outings this term and might be ready to tackle a mile now. Good For You closed well following a rail run beyond midfield to fill a placing. It was a good effort carrying top weight following a first-up win and he might have the tools to win another soon. Brave Knight ran on steadily from behind midfield to snatch fourth on the wire following a rise in trip. He appears to have turned the corner in two runs this term but is likely a winner waiting to happen in Class Five. Thumped to jump favourite Autopay was again over-racing after finding the front from a wide gate and was on his tippy toes 150m out.

Racing Incident Report

AUTOPAY began awkwardly.

CHATER THUNDER shifted out at the start and bumped NEWSWIRE FREE.

From a wide barrier, RED ELYSEES was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, AUTOPAY got its head up when being shifted across towards the rail.

AUTOPAY got its head on the side and lay out in the middle stages and continued to lay out in the Straight.

Near the 550 Metres, RED ELYSEES (S Clipperton) was crowded for room inside CHATER THUNDER which, after initially shifting in, then shifted in further after being bumped on the hindquarters by RED ELYSEES.

Then rounding the Home Turn, CHATER THUNDER was again bumped by RED ELYSEES which shifted out.

S Clipperton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Passing the 150 Metres, GOOD FOR YOU and BRAVE KNIGHT raced tight.

Passing the 100 Metres, NEWSWIRE FREE was shifted to the inside of AUTOPAY after being disappointed for running between that horse and RED HORSE which initially shifted in and then became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by NEWSWIRE FREE.

Throughout the race, CHATER THUNDER travelled wide and without cover.

J Moreira, the rider of 5th placegetter, AUTOPAY, pleaded guilty to a charge of having failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards [Rule 100(2)].

In the circumstances, particularly having in mind the narrow margin between the 4th placing and the 5th placing, the Stewards considered the appropriate penalty was for J Moreira's licence to ride in races be suspended for a period to commence on Wednesday, 11 October 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 15 October 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

J Moreira reported that his saddle shifted back on AUTOPAY in the early stages of the race.

AUTOPAY, SILVERFIELD and RED ELYSEES were sent for sampling.
