Sonic Fighter dashed to the front 200m out following a midfield run and held off an unlucky Vital Spring to notch a second win from five starts. Do expect him to remain competitive up in grade off a light weight. Punted late Vital Spring finished very well after being badly held up in the box-seat until pulling out at the 150m. He should have won. Smiling Charm kept on gamely for a placing after driving forward from a wide gate to park outside the leader Bingo. He's a winner waiting to happen if he can draw a proper gate at this level. Red Horse ran on steadily travelling outside Sonic Fighter to just miss a placing. He's gone all right in three of four after a win but doesn't have many points in hand. Bingo was on his tippy toes 100m out after leading from an outside draw. He keeps finding one or a few too good. Yee Cheong Pegasus was getting to the line reasonably well after travelling fourth from the rear. He's shown promise in his two starts.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (503) - FAY FAY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Prior to arriving at the saddling stalls, LUCKY SHINY DAY became fractious, resulting in the horse sustaining abrasions to both hind limbs.

Acting on veterinary advice that LUCKY SHINY DAY was not suitable to race, that horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY SHINY DAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

COME ON WONGCHOY was slow to begin.

RED HORSE and MIGHTY MAVERICK bumped at the start.

From wide barriers, YEE CHEONG PEGASUS and HORSE PROSPEROUS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

N Rawiller (SMILING CHARM) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MIGHTY MAVERICK, causing that horse to be hampered and taken in onto RED HORSE which was also hampered in consequence.

N Rawiller was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 11 April 2018 and to expire on Monday, 16 April 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In addition, N Rawiller was fined $50,000.

Passing the 1000 Metres, DRAGON WARRIOR was left racing wide and without cover.

After the 1000 Metres, YEE CHEONG PEGASUS travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed behind HAVE FUN TOGETHER.

Rounding the Home Turn, VITAL SPRING (C Y Ho) and SMILING CHARM bumped as VITAL SPRING attempted to shift out from behind BINGO.

C Y Ho was advised that whilst the Stewards appreciate competitive riding, nonetheless he must exercise due care when attempting to obtain running between horses to ensure that he does not interfere with other runners.

Near the 300 Metres, VITAL SPRING was severely checked after attempting a run which did not quite develop between BINGO and SMILING CHARM.

As the Stewards were satisfied that VITAL SPRING had not established running between BINGO and SMILING CHARM, no further action was taken.

Near the 250 Metres, MIGHTY MAVERICK shifted out and bumped RED HORSE.

Passing the 200 Metres, DOCTORS DELIGHT was shifted out away from the heels of VITAL SPRING which shifted to the outside of SMILING CHARM to obtain clear running.

Approaching the 100 Metres, BINGO and SMILING CHARM raced tight.

After the race, B Prebble reported that HAVE FUN TOGETHER never travelled comfortably in today's race.

He said after being placed under pressure in the early part of the Straight, HAVE FUN TOGETHER shifted ground on a number of occasions and appeared reluctant to stretch out fully.

A veterinary inspection of HAVE FUN TOGETHER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of GREAT TREASURE and YEE CHEONG PEGASUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SONIC FIGHTER and VITAL SPRING were sent for sampling.
