PHILIP WOO’S FORMLINE
Sergeant Pepper is mixing his form but did notch a third runner-up result under today's 10-pound apprentice at his penultimate start and should give a bold sight from a good draw. Lean Master has another wide draw to contend with but was a nice winner two runs ago over this C&D before staying on into fifth from gate 12 last time out. He cannot be taken lightly. Gorgeous Vitality has been out of form but steps back to the C&D of a rallying third and should get his chance from gate four. Circuit Seven won by a head at his second start for his new trainer over this C&D in January before backing up with an OK fourth and flat eighth without the best of runs. He can place from gate 10.
TROUBLE IN RUNNING
FORTUNE WARRIOR (H229) approaching the 1100M shifted out and bumped with a runner. Leaving the 900M was steadied to avoid another runner. After the race was examined by the vet who said an endoscopic exam showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Has since passed an official vet exam - Race 504.
SERGEANT PEPPER (E432) near the 700M got its head up when momentarily crowded. After the race, rider reported that his mount raced keenly in the middle stages and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 553.
FAIRY HORSE (J144) after travelling a short distance was hampered when crowded - Race 487.
STRIVE FOR GLORY (D186) shortly after the start blundered, resulted in the horse and rider becoming unbalanced. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. After the race, rider reported that he was requested to ensure that his mount jumped well. He added that after his mount commenced well, he allowed it to take up a more forward position. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued - Race 553.
GREAT ACHIEVER (J049) in the early stages raced ungenerously when positioned tight to the inside of a runner. After being crossed by that runner continued to race ungenerously for some distance thereafter - Race 574.
CIRCUIT SEVEN (D474) bumped heavily on jumping and became unbalanced. Approaching the 100M rider dropped his right rein for some distance when he changed his whip through to his right hand - Race 514.
PHILOS (H371) over the concluding stages was crowded and checked - Race 572.
