Leigh Jones’ side suffer two fighting losses against Japan before defeating South Korea twice to finish the tournament in second place

Hong Kong turned in their best Asia Rugby Championship effort yet in 2017, taking it right up to Japan in two fighting losses before easily seeing off South Korea to finish a comfortable second overall.

Their tournament started with a 29-17 loss to Japan in Tokyo that could well have been a win, while the return leg at Hong Kong Football Club saw the Brave Blossoms strangle the hosts to win 16-0.

After a week’s break, Hong Kong produced a brilliant first 60 minutes against South Korea in Yesan to salute 43-17 before seeing off the Koreans 39-3 on home soil.
