The territory's hottest male rugby bodies will pose for an 'artistic' calendar to raise funds for the Hong Kong Women's Rugby World Sevens to be held in the territory next March.

Isi Tu'ivai, Rick Muik and Warren Warner are among at least six of Hong Kong's national squad who have agreed to pose for the calendar.

It is not known whether they will pose in the nude, but Sue Slater, a Women's Sevens committee member, said the calendar would be 'sexy, but tasteful'.

She said opting for an all-male calendar was a marketing decision, not a sexist one.

'There is a bigger pool from which to choose the models and because of their profiles it should be a big seller,' she said.

'It is also a chance for the men to show their positive support for women in a mostly male-dominated game.' Local photographer Paul Hilton will snap the glossy photographs for the calendar, which is due out next month. Organisers hope to sell at least 5,000 copies at $100 each.

The calendar will list local and international rugby fixtures for 1997.

Sixteen overseas teams have been invited to the Women's Sevens which will be held on March 15 and 16 at Aberdeen Stadium.

New Zealand, Fiji, England, the United States, Australia and Canada were among teams invited.
