All Whites face China in Shanghai friendly

New Zealand will play China in a friendly match in Shanghai on November 14, it was announced yesterday. The match will allow All Whites coach Ricki Herbert to experiment with his line-up before New Zealand hosts Oceania's fourth round of 2014 World Cup qualifiers in March next year. AFP

United buys out DHL sponsorship deal

Manchester United has bought out its sponsorship deal with DHL early in a bid to secure more cash for the rights to its training kit. United are in the second year of a four-year £40 million (HK$503 million) deal with the express delivery and freight firm. But United believe the sponsorship is worth more after General Motors' Chevrolet agreed earlier this year to sponsor the club's main shirts for US$559 million over seven years. AP

Serbia bans players and coaches over brawl

Serbia suspended two of its under-21 players for a year and two coaches for two years for their involvement in a brawl after an ill-tempered match against England which led to a Uefa charge of racism. "As we promised, our disciplinary commission members have carried out a swift but full investigation," the FA said. AP

Wanyama snubs Celtic's contract offer

Kenya midfielder Victor Wanyama had snubbed Celtic's offer of an improved contract, his agent said. Wanyama's current deal with the Scottish champions lasts until 2015, but Celtic were keen to tie him to a new contract to fend off interest from several English Premier League clubs. Wanyama's agent Rob Moore said: "Victor has informed Celtic the contract offer fell short of his expectations." AFP
