Zdenek Zeman's future as coach of AS Roma was placed in further doubt after the Serie A side suffered a 4-2 reverse at home to lowly Cagliari for their fifth straight game without a victory. It was Roma's ninth defeat in 23 games, the most of any side in the top half of the table, and general manager Franco Baldini said: "We need to reflect on what happened tonight. I will be meeting with the club owner and the other board members before any decision is taken." AFP

Forward Markel Susaeta scored one goal and set up another to lead Athletic Bilbao's fightback for a draw 2-2 at Valladolid in the Spanish league. "The team has improved its image over the past few games," Susaeta said. "We hope we can continue to do so and move up the standings." AP

Paolo Di Canio is considering his future as manager of Swindon after he claimed the League One club's star player was sold without his agreement. The Italian reacted furiously when he discovered highly-rated winger Matt Ritchie had been sold to promotion rivals Bournemouth on transfer deadline day. "We were assured he was going nowhere and money would be made available for the squad to be strengthened," Di Canio said. "Within an hour I received a phone call from Matt Ritchie telling me that the club had agreed to sell him and he was in the process of agreeing personal terms. I regard this as a clear breach of my contract with the club. I am forced to consider my future, as I don't know how I can continue to work in this environment." AFP
