Ex-Newcastle man Ranger admits common assault
Former Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has admitted a charge of common assault after an incident in Newcastle city centre, a court was told on Friday.
The 21-year-old, who left Newcastle by mutual consent two weeks ago, was arrested after police received reports of a fight between a couple on Wednesday evening.
The former England Under-19 player appeared at a court in Newcastle on Friday and court officials confirmed he had admitted a charge of common assault.
He was given conditional bail and will appear again on April 9 for sentencing.
