Rooney, Mata give Manchester United 4-0 victory over Norwich

Caretaker manager Ryan Giggs secures his first success in charge, just five days after taking over from sacked David Moyes

Manchester United are back with a vengeance after notching a 4-0 victory over Norwich at Old Trafford, giving Ryan Giggs his first win as caretaker manager on Saturday.

Giggs, who took over at the helm five days ago, ripped up former manager David Moyes' playbook and brought back familiar faces in a traditional 4-4-2 line-up at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney opened the scoring with a well-slotted penalty in the first half and then fired a second shortly after the half-time break.

The England striker was looking for a hat-trick when Giggs sent Juan Mata on in place of Danny Welbeck in the 60th minute.

Just three minutes later Mata converted a low Phil Jones cross to take the scoreline to 3-0.

Mata puts the nail in the coffin in the 73rd minute.
