American retailer Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries came under fire on Thursday from a Hong Kong health expert after a writer claimed Jeffries “doesn’t want larger people shopping in his store”.

On 11 August, Abercrombie & Fitch made landfall in Hong Kong. It is the label’s fourth store in Asia after Tokyo, Fukuoka and Singapore. The American retailer broke commercial real estate records by paying a whopping HK$7 million per month for a spot at the iconic Pedder Building, replacing long-time tenant Shanghai Tang. From now on, Pedder Street will never look, sound or smell the same.

The Abercrombie & Fitch store in Central's Pedder Building opens at 11am tomorrow and CitySeen went inside for a sneak preview yesterday.

The dimly lit, four-storey shop is scented with the brand's Fierce cologne.

A&F plans mainland flagship in 2013

Premium casual wear retailer Abercrombie & Fitch plans to open its first flagship store on the mainland next year after establishing a network of smaller shops inside upscale malls to build up brand awareness.

Hollister plans first HK store at Festival Walk

Hollister, an American lifestyle brand by Abercrombie & Fitch, will open its first shop in Hong Kong in August this year. The new store, which will cover 10,000 square feet, will be opened in the Festival Walk shopping centre in Kowloon Tong, according to landlord Swire Properties. The soon-to-be-opened store is also Hollister's first flagship store in Asia.
