HK$20m lawsuit over blaze at shipyard

An Ap Lei Chau shipyard operator is suing a developer for more than HK$20 million after a fire damaged its docks and a historic yacht.

Nan Fung Group has outbid eight others to win a luxury residential site at Shouson Hill for the anticipated price of HK$6 billion.

Prime residential site expected to sell for HK$7.4b

Analysts expect keen competition among developers for a rare and large luxury residential site at Shouson Hill, with some forecasting the prime site could fetch up to HK$7.44 billion.

'This is the last available site of such a big size located in a traditional luxury area on Hong Kong Island,' said Alvin Lam Tsz-pun, a director at Midland Surveyors.

Bid for prime site

An unnamed developer has made a minimum guaranteed bid of HK$3.5 billion to the government to trigger public tendering. The bid is for a 110,340 sq ft site in Deep Water Bay Drive, Shouson Hill, that could be developed into 248,135 sq ft. The tender period will be between April 27 and May 25.

Maritime meander

Sampans and 'walla-wallas', or water taxis, have long since disappeared from Victoria Harbour, but this small-scale water traffic is alive and well in Aberdeen. The town's waterfront is very much a working harbour, and is still home to a large fishing fleet.
