People have been invited to post a personal local letter for free on Friday, World Post Day. About 48,000 free letters were posted last year.

Police last night classified the discovery at the General Post Office in Central of an unidentified but harmless powder in letters addressed to businesses in the area a case of criminal intimidation.

Postal codes exist

I was interested by Andy Ho's column of November 6, headlined 'Lack of post code has SAR lost in the mail'.

I would like to point him and your readers to their most recent bank statement.

They will find that the statement actually prints out their Hong Kong postal code in the address.

I always refer to it when ordering goods from overseas.
