A task force has been set up to investigate whether two air bridges that collapsed at Chek Lap Kok airport on Sunday failed because of the bolts connecting different parts of the platforms, the Airport Authority says.

Air cargo throughput in Hong Kong grew 21.2 per cent last month year on year to 334,000 tonnes, according to the Airport Authority.

Luggage catches fire on airport conveyor belt

The Airport Authority and the Fire Services Department are investigating a fire on a luggage conveyor belt yesterday.

A bag caught fire at 2pm and the flames spread to a second bag. No one was injured and no hazardous goods were found in the bag. The accident happened in the restricted area, where only staff were allowed.
