Paris Fashion Week: good things come to those who wait

Fashion Week is almost over. As some of the hip crowd heads to Carine Roitfeld's party tonight at the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild, there are others that lie utterly exhausted and spent. But despite this being the penultimate day of the Paris schedule, it's not to say it wasn't full of wonder and excitement.

Exhibition duo make a date with the dolls

The LCX X Maysum Backstage Exhibition at Harbour City comprises a mock backstage area with make-up mirrors and clothing racks to showcase the many talents of make-up artist May Sum.

Among the items on display are her Subi Mcdolls and lipstick sculptures inspired by art, lifestyle and, apparently, cats.

Collected thoughts

Masako Kumakura has closets on two continents. Two are in Paris: one in her home is full of fabulous finds from her many years in the fashion industry. The other is a storage space where she keeps even more dresses, most of them vintage. The latest addition is here in Hong Kong. It may be modest in terms of square footage compared to those in Paris, but it is still full of treasures.

Body-con

Dresses this season are divided into two camps. While many designers went for loose and boxy shapes reminiscent of the 1960s, at the other end of the spectrum were sexy body-con looks which fit in with the popular fetish trend. Designers such as Versace sent out skin-tight dresses that emphasise a woman's figure in dark colours like black and blue, accentuated with panels of leather.
