Having the time of their lives

Becoming a champion is no easy task, and so it proved for the winners of the 2011-12 All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Volleyball Tournament. Wa Ying College and Yan Chai Hospital No 2 Secondary School won the boys' and girls' titles, respectively, after hard-fought finals held on New Year's Eve at Tsing Yi Sports Centre.

Ying Wa College made a rush to the finish to finally get its revenge at the All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Basketball Tournament 2006-2007.

Ying Wa shocked Diocesan Boys' School (DBS) and its supporters by clinching the title in the boy's category.

Brave HK team lose to stronger rivals

The Hong Kong team beat Macau but lost three matches at the 34th Asian Schools Football Championships in Vietnam.

Following losses to Malaysia and South Korea, the boys fought back. They secured a place in the knock-out stages with a win over Macau.

Against the Indonesians in the quarter-finals, however, the Hong Kong team were totally outclassed, losing 6-0.

TCY thrash Beacon to retain Jing Ying title

SHA TIN AND Sai King district champions YCH Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School (TCY) retained the all-Hong Kong schools Jing Ying football title with a crushing 5-1 victory over Beacon College at Mongkok Stadium.

The defending champions had been expecting their toughest match of the season against surprise finalists Beacon last Saturday.

There were no upsets in the Jing Ying Football Tournament last weekend.

Defending champions West Island School eased into the semi-finals by thumping Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College 5-1 on Sunday. They beat TWGHs Yau Tze Tin Memorial College 2-1 in the second round on Saturday.

Girls make it four in a row

The Jockey Club Ti-I College girls' football team (above) proved they are the best for the fourth year in a row when they won the inter-school tournament at Kwai Chung Sports Ground recently.

The Ti-I girls were unbeaten throughout the tournament and clinched the honours by beating YCH Tung Chi Ying Memorial Secondary School in the final.
