Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas remains upbeat about his side's chances of Champions League qualification, despite their destiny no longer being in their hands after the 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

Goals from Jan Vertonghen, Gareth Bale and Clint Dempsey saw Spurs to their first win at Old Trafford in 23 years and their first triumph over Alex Ferguson's team in 27 attempts - a run dating back to May 2001.

Defoe double earns Villas-Boas first Spurs win

Andre Villas-Boas secured his first Premier League victory as Tottenham Hotspur manager when his side outclassed Reading 3-1 on Sunday with two goals from England striker Jermain Defoe.

Without a win in their first three games of the season, Tottenham took the lead after 18 minutes when Gylfi Sigurdssdon and Aaron Lennon combined to set up Defoe for a cool finish.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas admits his side are suffering from early season anxiety problems following a third Premier League game without a win.

A late equaliser from Robert Snodgrass gave Norwich a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane  and left Villas-Boas still waiting for his first win as Spurs boss.
