Old warrior Armada can get New Year off to a cracker

It has been over 18 months since Armada greeted the judge, but the John Size-trained gelding showed last start the spark is still there and he can get back to the winner's circle in the Chinese Club Challenge Cup (1,400m) today.

Size's brave pair back from Japan and looking to next season

Brave, beaten but unbowed was how John Size-trained Sight Winner and Armada arrived back at Sha Tin yesterday from their unplaced runs in Sunday's Yasuda Kinen in Tokyo.

Size said both horses came through their runs without any harm after Sight Winner was sixth and Armada eighth to star mare Vodka, and they are already home and headed for a spell.

The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Mile has not been a race to help John Size sleep happily at night, but the dominant trainer over the past seven seasons is not taking it lying down.
