Activist Avery Ng Man-yuen slammed the Department of Justice for what he called his "political prosecution" after he was acquitted of charges relating to his bid to catch the attention of visiting President Hu Jintao last June.

A magistrate has made a rare suggestion to amend a charge in court instead of dismissing it, at the trial of a pro-democracy activist who tried to catch the attention of visiting President Hu Jintao in June.

Activist Avery Ng Man-yuen's unwarranted antics during President Hu Jintao's visit last year could have had serious consequences although no member of the public was within 200 metres of the area where the incident occurred, the Tsuen Wan Court heard yesterday.

Police to arrest League of Social Democrats members over April rally
