Architect beat restraints to erect a landmark

Stringent building regulations were the motivator for the innovation and imagination that went into the refurbishment of the decrepit French Mission building, Bethanie, in Pok Fu Lam, said architect Philip Liao Yi-kang, who transformed the building into a new city landmark.

New dean at film school longs to see stars again

New dean of film Shu Kei is leading the move of Hong Kong's premier film and television school to a purpose-built new centre at The Bethanie in Pok Fu Lam.

Work is due to start any day on converting the former sanatorium of the French Mission to house the school, part of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, as well as a museum about The Bethanie and a theatre.

APA plans expansion in Pokfulam

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (APA) has found a solution to its space shortage, with plans to move its School of Film and Television to a heritage church building in Pokfulam in early 2005.
