Car set ablaze in arson attack

An abandoned vehicle was set alight in an arson attack at a car park in Baguio Villa, Victoria Road, Pokfulam. Firemen found traces of petrol and burnt newspapers next to the vehicle. No one has been arrested.

Baguio Villa sale fails to spark buying frenzy

The Government sold just 47 of the 120 surplus quarters in Baguio Villa, Pokfulam, despite cutting prices by as much as 25 per cent compared with the sale of an initial batch of units in December.

The Government Property Agency (GPA), which handles the disposal of surplus quarters, said $460.3 million was raised from the sales.

Government releases 84 surplus quarters to generate $1.3b

The Government yesterday said it would offer 84 surplus quarters for sale, raising an estimated $1.3 billion.

This sale includes 29 units on Caldecott Road, Cheung Sha Wan, left unsold last month.

It also includes a separate sale of 17 smaller flats in Telford Gardens, Kowloon Bay.

The Government Property Agency is selling another batch of 40 government quarters in Baguio Villa in Pokfulam by open tender. Tenders will close for submission on December 16. A further 40 Baguio Villa flats will be offered for sale on December 30.

THE Baguio Villa residents forced out of their homes last year by a massive mudslide are now convinced they live in ''the safest place in Hongkong''.

Despite the horror and the upheaval in the aftermath of the Pokfulam landslip which killed two people in the estate on May 8, most moved back to their flats as soon as they could.
