Bossini opening 110 more outlets across border

Bossini International Holdings plans to open 110 retail outlets in the mainland this year amid the depressed market in Hong Kong.

Executive director Edgar To said the SAR-listed company would increase its mainland outlets to 270 by the end of the year.

Texwinca in dispute

Garment manufacturer Texwinca Holdings says its right to use five Baleno trademarks in China is under dispute.

As the company's garments sold in China were marketed under 28 other Baleno trademarks, it did not expect the dispute to hit sales. Texwinca's right to use the five trademarks was challenged by a company called Haohua, which claimed to be sole licensee.

Clothing retailer Giordano International has appointed merchant bank N.M. Rothschild & Sons to advise on its operations in China and 'related issues' after the suspension of its shares on Friday.

The suspension was requested by the group as it reviews its operations on the mainland.

Texwinca gears Baleno for mainland expansion

Texwinca plans to expand its retail presence in China by increasing the number of its Baleno outlets to 50 this year and to 150 by March 1998.

Executive director Simon Ting Kit-chung said the company, whose main business is textile processing, had 21 Baleno stores in major Chinese cities, eight owned directly.
