Bolshoi dancer appears in court after admitting acid attack

A leading dancer at Russia’s Bolshoi Theatre appeared in court on Thursday after confessing to planning the acid attack on the ballet troupe’s artistic director Sergei Filin, reportedly in revenge for his treatment of his dancer girlfriend.

What is it that makes the American Ballet Theatre so "American"? According to Kevin McKenzie, the former dancer who has been the company's artistic director since 1991, it's not a patriotic, flag-waving approach to dance, although the company is the United States' official national ballet.

Einstein on the Beach to play at arts festival

The Hong Kong Arts Festival organiser has offered a sneak peek at next year's event schedule, with 150 acts slated to perform a diverse repertoire.

Renowned ballerina returns to China for HK production

After delighting audiences around the world for years, ballerina Tan Yuanyuan is relishing the opportunity to perform in Hong Kong.

Historic ballet contest comes to HK

Top ballet dancers aged 14 to 19 will gather at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) for the prestigious Genee International Ballet Competition 2006.

The contest is being organised by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) to celebrate its 50th anniversary in Hong Kong. This is the first time the competition will be held here.
