Proposing barbecue ban to ease smog is at least an admission of problem

Draft proposals for improving air quality submitted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection for public feedback are timely, given the smog that has blighted large parts of the mainland recently. But timing has not been matched by execution, with the feedback from internet users pouring scorn on a plan to enforce environmentally correct behaviour by ordinary citizens, as opposed to state-owned and private industrial enterprises.

On Wednesday, Americans will be celebrating their Independence Day with barbecues, picnics and potlucks. It is somewhat of a tradition to serve hotdogs, hamburgers and chicken, but you don't need to limit your Fourth of July celebration to just those. Pulled pork is one dish that can satisfy a large group - it can be made in advance and it just needs to be reheated before your guests arrive.

Mexican crave

The North American cuisine I miss most is Mexican. While I love the traditional dishes, I also appreciate the modern fusion food sold at taco trucks in many United States cities, which mix Mexican ingredients with those of other cultures.
