Arsenal will be out to show they have learnt the lessons of last season’s painful home defeat by Bayern Munich when the sides meet again in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in London on Wednesday.

Bayern Munich’s 5-0 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt has helped the Bundesliga leader remain atop of The Associated Press global soccer poll this week, and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa has topped the player rankings.

It’s the fourth time this season Bayern are the weekly poll winner.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge reached a deal with Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle on Monday, with contracts to be finalised and signed in the coming days, the Bundesliga club announced on its website.

Follow that, Pep. Jupp Heynckes is leaving Bayern Munich having set the bar for Pep Guardiola as high as the Wembley Stadium arch.

In England's national stadium, on the penultimate step of Heynckes' farewell tour, the coach delivered Bayern's fifth European Cup with a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
