Designs that suit to a tee

Budding fashion designers were given a boost with workshops led by local talent Tommy Li Win-chuen.

The 30 students were chosen from more than 200 applicants from different tertiary institutes and given the opportunity to design their own T-shirts under the guidance of Li.

Benetton profits plummet 68pc

Italian casual wear manufacturer and retailer Benetton Group's net income for the first half dropped 54 million euros (about HK$376.02 million), or 68 per cent, compared with the same period last year which had included an exceptional gain of 95.6 million euros.

Benefun slides into red

Benefun International, which has recently sold its right to operate the Benetton apparel retail store chain in Hong Kong for just $6 million, yesterday unveiled a $140.95 million attributable loss for the year to June. That compares with a profit of $65.35 million last year. Loss per share was 35.3 cents, against the per-share earnings of 21.2 cents last year.
