Warnings about lightning ignored

Transport emergency specialists said yesterday rail authorities ignored their warnings on the risks of lightning and pointed out the country's railway system still had insufficient protection against such strikes.

Legco exhibitions for universities

The Legislative Council will, for the first time, hold exhibitions and career talks at three universities. The first exhibition will be held at the Benjamin Franklin Building at the Sha Tin campus of the Chinese University from today to Friday. A career talk will be held tomorrow at Chinese University's Ho Sin-hang Engineering Building.

Forgers' favourite targeted as US$100 revamped

HONG KONG police have welcomed a move by the United States to redesign its $100 bill in an attempt to foil increased counterfeiting.

The greenback is a forgers' favourite because of the ease with which copies have been made and the US reluctance to change it for more than 60 years.
