Sean Macfarlane, a magician, recently pulled off one of his greatest tricks yet: losing 12kg and 10cm off his waist in 90 days.

But it wasn't magic behind the 42-year-old's transformation; it was all sweat and a few tears through an online health and fitness programme called the Peak Condition Project (PCP). His girlfriend, Cecilia Aiello, who did the programme with him, lost 7kg.

Simple wishes of 'God's precious gift'

Four-year-old Sean Cheung Kar-tung was doodling on his father's palm with a pen.

'Oh, now you're writing a cheque to me! I wish I could receive what you have guaranteed me in this cheque,' said Willson Cheung Chun-chin, 41.

The 'cheque' was Sean's New Year wish list. 'I want to learn how to walk, how to write, to drive a car and a plane,' said Sean.

Appalling behaviour at temple

I have been living in Hong Kong for 28 months and I have finally seen something that appalled me.

My husband and I moved here because of the death of his father.

He is interred at the Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas in Sha Tin.

Every major holiday, birthdays, etc, we go to pay our respects. We always arrive at approximately 7.55am, for the 8am opening.

At $15,000 a seat (which goes up to a staggering $150,000 a seat if you sit on the Pattens' table), the organisers believe the evening at Government House to celebrate the Community Chest silver jubilee must be one of the most expensive ever held.

Baby dumped

THE body of a premature baby was found in the streets of Yau Ma Tei yesterday. Police said the umbilical cord was still attached and they believed the baby was already dead before birth or had died while being born.
