Cathay Pacific eyes hi-tech 'self-boarding' gates in Hong Kong

The automatic boarding gate, an advanced version of the gates used at MTR stations, will allow passengers to board without having to undergo a manual document check by ground staff.

It was a day of high emotion as half the sixth form gathered in the gym. They were there to watch the much-awaited annual basketball match between the boarding house and day school pupils. The boarding house team snatched victory by a tiny margin and in the most dramatic way. As a boarder myself I was delighted, but the match was an exciting spectacle for everyone.

Flight boarding pass switch leads to jail

A 35-year-old man was jailed for 12 months after being convicted of switching his flight boarding pass with a visitor from the mainland. Sha Tin Court heard that the mainlander intended to board a flight for Vancouver on November 11 last year using a boarding pass and a forged Canadian passport in the name of Benny Lim Hay-bun, who was on Monday convicted of conspiracy to defraud.

What a carry on

Checking in for a flight with Dragonair recently to Beijing from Hong Kong, I was told at the check-in counter that for security reasons I could not carry aboard my briefcase and my trolley despite the fact that it was within the required measurements. When I arrived at the gate, I was surprised to see people boarding for economy class with so much luggage they could hardly carry it.

Schoolboy 'dragged along road by bus'

A NINE-YEAR-OLD schoolboy was dragged along the road by a bus after its driver closed the door before the boy had properly boarded, according to a writ filed in the Supreme Court.

Chan Kin-yin suffered fractures to two toes and cuts to his foot and had to use crutches for two months.
