A plan to break into safety deposit boxes in the Bank of East Asia came into the head of Colombian Jose Alejandro Bermudez Bolivar when, exchanging money in a bank on his first visit to Hong Kong, he saw that security was lax.

Government pressed on access to bank services

The government has been urged to help the elderly and low-income groups affected by the closure of bank branches in their areas.

The call came during a meeting of the Legislative Council financial affairs panel, during which lawmakers accused the banking industry of shirking its community responsibility by closing branches, especially in areas with more low-income people.

Plea for reopening of branch

SHEKKIPMEI residents say they want the Hongkong Bank to reopen their local branch.

The bank on the first block of Shekkipmei Upper Estate had served the residents for 29 years, but has remained locked up since the blast and fire.

No asset in hold-up at the bank

I WOULD like to urge the Hongkong Bank to improve its customers service facilities in the Aberdeen area.

On February 10, I went to the bank's Aberdeen Centre branch to deposit a cheque into an Assetvantage account. I had to queue for 20 minutes for a transaction which only took five seconds.
