Iconic Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer dies at age of 104

Oscar Niemeyer, a towering figure of modern architecture who designed much of Brazil's futuristic capital, Brasilia, has died at the age of 104. Niemeyer who worked until near the end of his life on Wednesday and still had 20 works in progress, was also the last vestige of an entire generation of Brazilian communists.

Brasilia kicks off Mardi Gras-style

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is the face of a collection targeted at the young set

If you wish to grab the headlines, get a supermodel. That is what Ebel did on the first day of BaselWorld, when it unveiled Gisele Bundchen as the face of its new collection, Brasilia.

This was followed by a Brazil-themed cocktail party with dancers in Mardi Gras costumes.
