British lawmakers demand review of Prince Charles’s tax affairs

Britain’s heir to the royal throne Prince Charles should face greater tax scrutiny of his multi-million pound income from his centuries-old Duchy of Cornwall estate, an influential committee of lawmakers said in parliament at the seat of government in London on Tuesday.

Emily Lau Wai-hing correctly identifies that her Democratic Party needs to rejuvenate. However the problem runs much deeper than just image and its ability to refocus on the younger generation and women.

Man held for planning attack on royal couple

Police arrested a man on suspicion of planning an assault before Britain’s Prince Charles and his wife Camilla met crowds in central Auckland in New Zealand, reports said on Monday.

The man, in his 70s, was “nowhere near” the royal couple when he was detained but would appear in Auckland District Court on Tuesday, Fairfax Media said, quoting a police spokeswoman.

Britain’s Prince Charles needed an umbrella on Friday on Australia’s famous Bondi beach as a tropical storm hit during the royal visit.

The downpour scattered the waiting crowd as the official cavalcade drew up at the Bondi Surf Club.

When the rain eased, Charles walked onto the beach in a blue wool suit and tie to greet onlookers.

The British royal family faced a multinational battle to contain the spread of topless photos of Princess William's wife Catherine, as an Irish tabloid published them yesterday and an Italian magazine said it would print new photos.

Italy's Chi magazine will devote 26 pages to the series of pictures in an edition coming out tomorrow.
