Four hurt as woman runs amok

A woman was arrested in Kwun Tong last night, 91/2 hours after she went berserk on the streets of Hung Hom, attacking four pedestrians with a plastic broom and a mop handle and vandalising two shops.

Elderly street sleepers mugged

Two street sleepers, aged 60 and 63, were attacked and robbed of $3,200 by three youths on a footbridge in Shekkipmei. When the older man struggled, his attackers poured red paint over him and hit him on the head with a broom handle.

Unsightly tree decoration

There is a tree at the juncture of Caine Road and Ladder Street.

A mop and two bamboo brooms are always draped on the tree. The dirty mop hangs upside down on a branch and the two brooms hang neatly between a tree branch and the roadside rail.

There is also often a big box placed sometimes on the tree and sometimes at the top of Ladder Street.

Goldsmith sweeps up robbers

TWO armed robbers who tried to rob a goldsmith's workshop were swept away yesterday when the proprietor beat them off with a broom.

The robbers, armed with knives, entered the workshop at Rua de Bris da Rosa at about 11 am, threatened the proprietor and four workers and ordered them to hand over all the gold jewellery.
