Budweiser and Stolichnaya fuming over starring role with drunk pilot

Denzel Washington's character in Flight drinks a lot, but his portrayal of a highly functioning alcoholic pilot isn't going down well with brewing company Anheuser-Busch or the distributor of Stolichnaya vodka.

HK set for title defence

The venue has changed but defending champions Budweiser Hong Kong are still favourites for the Dragon Centre Ice Hockey Five-a-Side tournament next week.

Organisers moved the annual event to the Dragon Centre in Shamshuipo due to high rents at rinks in Festival Walk and City Plaza, the venues for the past two years.

Legal battle brews over Budweiser's Czech foe

THE makers of the world's biggest-selling beer, Budweiser, yesterday launched a High Court action to take a rival Czech beer off the shelves in Hong Kong.

The US 'King Of Beers' claims that Budejovicky Budvar beer, imported into Hong Kong by distributors Solar Max Ltd and sold in shops such as Oliver's and Watson's, is breaching its copyright.

Brewer denies plan

Lion Nathan, a New Zealand brewer, denied it was negotiating to brew Budweiser beer at its NZ$200 million (about HK$858 million) brewery in Suzhou. 'We've no plans to toll-brew at Suzhou,' said a spokesman for Lion Nathan. 'Toll brewing' is an industry term for brewing another company's brands.
