It's wait and see for HK-bound stars after Buena Vista snatches glory

Buena Vista became the world's leading money earner with her Japan Cup win in Tokyo, but Hong Kong Jockey Club officials will be more interested in what happened behind the star mare. The Cup featured four horses with scheduled starts on international day and will be hoping all of them come through the race in good enough condition to press on to the Sha Tin showpiece.

Whyte may have to pay price for Tokyo foray

Champion jockey Douglas Whyte might pay a high price for his hit-and-run tour to Tokyo yesterday for the Tenno-Sho after his mount was relegated for causing interference in the final stages.

Whyte missed the Happy Valley fixture to ride Jaguar Mail in the rich Group One race and spent much of the event tracking Christophe Soumillon on the favourite, champion mare Buena Vista.
