Disguised burglars make off with HK$2m

Three suspects were arrested last night in connection with a burglary in which two men were seen dressed as building workers climbing into the Tuen Mun home of a local businesswoman, then fleeing with a safe containing HK$2 million of valuables.

Ex-PLA soldier and lover jailed for theft, laundering

A former People's Liberation Army soldier who became an "expert burglar" has been sentenced to seven years' jail, the maximum in the District Court, for stealing millions of dollars worth of jewellery and cash from two industrial buildings.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our Easter weekend excursion along the new Central waterfront promenade. What a shame that we were chased by three security officials who instructed my children that they were not allowed to ride their tricycles along the walkway.

Thieves netted more than HK$450,000 worth of cash and valuables from three properties late on Monday night and early yesterday when Hongkongers were welcoming the new year.

A 52-year-old woman whose name was given only as Yeung called police around 10pm on Monday to report that her flat in Wong Tai Sin had been broken into.

Mainland Connaught Road burglar jailed for six years

A mainland man who broke into three Hong Kong shops - bashing through a wall in one case - to steal more than HK$20 million was sentenced to six years and eight months in jail yesterday.

Gao Chuangiu, 44, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary in the Court of First Instance.

Burglars escaped yesterday with more than HK$2 million in antiques and jade and ivory carvings from a luxury home doors from the Peak property of Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying.

The break-in at the home of interior designer Chan Chun-ho at 7 Peel Rise - the second such case in the Peak area in four months - has prompted police to step up patrols on the exclusive district.

Home burglars flee with HK$1m in goods

Police are hunting four burglars who stole a safe containing HK$1 million worth of watches and jewellery from a 29-year-old mainland businessman's home in Kam Shue Road, Sai Kung. The men, who wore surgical masks, tied up two maids before ransacking the house. Later, the maids were able to untie themselves and called the police.
