Bazaar raises $102,000 for HKIEd hostel bursary

The campus of the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) in Tai Po was turned into a delightful charity bazaar last Wednesday, raising $101,918 for the institute's hostel bursary.

OUHK offers courses discount

The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) is offering a discount of between three and six per cent on 80 per cent of its courses in the coming year. A half-grant bursary scheme offering $10,000 for each needy student per year has also been introduced.

The president of the Open University of Hong Kong (OU), Professor Tam Sheung-wai, has defended an eight per cent rise in its tuition fees.

Aid for disabled

The Open Learning Institute (OLI) has received $120,000 in donations to help disabled adults. They included $100,000 from Shui On Centre and $10,000 from Lippo group.

The money will set up bursaries for disabled students.

Chen Hsong Holdings has pledged four $9,000 scholarships a year for electronics and engineering students.

Bursary offer from institute

STUDENTS at the Open Learning Institute (OLI) can now apply for a scholarship to have part of their tuition fee waived.

The new scholarship is available to students with outstanding academic results in middle-higher level courses on any of the 22 degree programmes offered by the institute.
