'Medicine chests' vital in fight to cure rare diseases

A 'medicine chest' should be available in all hospitals to stop doctors using out-of-date and illegally obtained drugs to treat patients with rare diseases, according to the medical community.

Hospital parking fee a hot shot

MIKE Grenham tells us his wife Margaret went to the Canossa Hospital in Mid-Levels this week. When she emerged after treatment, she was surprised to learn that Wilson Parking was now in control of the tiny parking area at the hospital's entrance, and they asked her for $24. Being a feisty Irish lass, she refused to pay and drove off into the sunset.

Rayson laid low by mystery illness

HONG KONG'S top triathlete, Ian Rayson, is resting at Queen Mary Hospital suffering from a mysterious illness after competing in the Singapore Triathlon.

Rayson's condition was said to have deteriorated ever since he competed in the Singapore event 10 days ago.

Mercy dash

AN expatriate man suffering back injuries was flown into Hong Kong on a special chartered flight from Xian, Shaanxi province, early this morning. An ambulance took the unidentified man to Canossa Hospital. No other details were available.
