Yesterday in the Back Lane by Bernice Rubens Little Brown $272 Bronwen Davis was not raped or sexually assaulted. Back in wartime Cardiff in Wales, girls were 'interfered with'. Bronwen was interfered with by the man in the corner shop, the head of the local civilian guard, and finally by a drunkard who stopped her in the back lane.
