The importance of co-operation

Call for new racial law to be hastened

Although many domestic helpers come from other countries, they still are part of Hong Kong's workforce. Also, they are people, too. They shouldn't be accused of being dirty and smelly. They should have equal job opportunities.

Cartoons teach life lessons

Lots of people stop watching cartoons as they get older. But I still enjoy it. Cartoons are full of positive ideas and revolve around love and friendship. For example, the Disney movie Up is about a man who promised his late wife to move their house to the top of a waterfall. He eventually achieves this 'impossible' dream with his faith and the help of a little boy.

Root out lies in society

Telling lies is becoming a 'trend' in society and people seem to accept this.

When we were small, we were told to be honest at all times. Books have also taught us the importance of honesty.

Adults these days always blame their children for telling lies. But the adults themselves are like that.

Find your mistakes and learn from them

I simply can't believe that I failed Chinese for the third time this academic year.

My learning attitude has improved a lot, but I still couldn't get a pass.

Being a Hong Kong student in an elite class, I feel ashamed.

I'm not hoping to get high marks. I just want to pass the tests and exams. Instead of improving, my results are getting worse.

Ugly side of the search for beauty

Beauty is a global quest that has seen women go to extreme lengths in order to enhance their appearance.

The definition of beauty varies with cultures and individuals. However, women do whatever they can to keep up with the latest fashions.

Communication with cyber friends calls for caution

Many youths use ICQ to communicate with their friends or to meet new friends. Although there are potential dangers, I do not think young people should steer clear of ICQ chat rooms.

As anyone who has access to the Internet can play ICQ, there are bound to be some bad people. A lot of people tell lies, and sex crimes in cyberspace are on the rise.

Young lovers can end up getting hurt

Secondary school students should not date. Many parents and teachers tend to discourage dating.

Boys and girls in school uniform walking hand in hand on the streets is very common. Sometimes they are kissing in public.

English an ice-breaker

An English Club barbecue at which all students had to speak English was enjoyed by students of all ages.

When one of our classmates tried to speak, there seemed to be some problems. He could hardly express himself. All of us looked at him expectantly.

Young 'teachers' share stories

Jasper, Christy, Cassana, Alice, Melody and I became student-teachers for a story-sharing corner where Form One and Form Two students came to us and told stories.

We are in Form Three.

We had this story-sharing corner because we wanted to help Form One and Form Two students read more books and speak English.

Make an effort to get closer to your parents

Communicating with parents seems to be a difficult job for teenagers, including me.

Most parents adopt a straight face when they talk to their children. They do not show their feelings because it is a traditional custom. Gradually, the gap between parents and children becomes wider and wider.

Tears for my father

When I read Dolina's article in Teen Talk, on April 26, tears filled my eyes. I could not help it, as I have had a similar sad experience as hers.

My father died four years ago of lung cancer. I am full of regrets that I did not show my love for him and make him happier.
