Slower increase seen in re-exports

RE-EXPORTS rose 17 per cent to $88.1 billion in September over the same month last year, according to the Census and Statistics Department.

Dah Bang in $56.5m new issue setback

THE new issue of Dah Bang (Holdings), with Standard Chartered Asia among its underwriters, has been under-subscribed.

The printing machinery distributor has only seen a 80 per cent subscription rate for its $56.5 million issue.

It represents one of the few under-subscriptions in the territory's history of new issues.

Yiu Wing in $56.6m agreement

YIU Wing International Holdings has agreed to pay a net $56.6 million in three deals involving the addition of three properties and loss of one property in the company's asset portfolio.

Yiu Wing agreed on Tuesday to receive a net payment of $5 million in a property exchange deal with a company owned by chairman Cheung Yiu-wing.

Red chips, H shares fall on eve of debut

A NUMBER of red chips and H shares lost ground in busy trading on the eve of the market debut of H share Yizheng Chemical Fibre, which starts trading today.

Shanghai Petrochemical surrendered 5.102 per cent, or 12.5 cents, to $2.325 on the back of the day's second heaviest volume of 19.20 million shares that produced turnover of $46.73 million.

Metal products industry leads decrease in orders

THE volume of Hong Kong manufacturers' orders on hand fell two per cent in December over the same month in 1992, according to the Census and Statistics Department.

The orders in the fabricated metal products industry posted the biggest decline, dropping 12 per cent.

RED chips and H shares were yesterday's star performers, dominating the top-10 performers list.

China Everbright International closed as the day's biggest percentage gainer, sprinting 13.76 per cent or 26 cents to $2.15 on turnover of $37.21 million generated by 18.33 million shares traded, the 10th highest volume.

Index rebounds to pass 10,700

STRONG buying in selected index constituent stocks and bargain-hunting sent the Hang Seng Index on a rebound yesterday.

It climbed 183.68 points, 1.75 per cent, to 10,707.96 on a turnover of $7.66 billion.

The rise surprised some brokers, who had expected the market to continue to take a breather from the previous rally.
