Kau Yan College and SKH Lam Kau Mow Secondary School met in the third round of the 13th Nesta-SCMP Debating Competition to debate on the motion: 'Nuclear power (fission) should have a place in Hong Kong's future.'

Balancing good and bad in our city

In the second round of the 13th Nesta-SCMP Debating Competition, YWCA Hioe Tjo Yoeng College battled Immaculate Heart of Mary College on the motion 'Hong Kong is a great place to live'. YWCA agreed with the motion, while Immaculate Heart of Mary took the opposing view.

Nothing compares to a metaphor

Two teams chose very different weapons when they faced each other in a battle of words. Pentecostal School chose to bombard the enemy with facts and figures, while Fukien Secondary School chose the more subtle, but deadly accurate, metaphor.

And, in this case, victory went to the metaphor.

Points of view on the local poverty issue

In the sixth round of the 12th Nesta-SCMP Debating Competition, TWGHs Kap Yan Directors' College eliminated Hoi Ping Chamber of Commerce Secondary School to earn a spot in the semi-finals. The schools met on December 7 to debate the motion: 'Hong Kong is not doing enough to take care of its poor.' Kap Yan were the affirmative side, with Hoi Ping taking the negative stance.

Tam Pak Yu's day

In round six of the 12th Nesta-SCMP Debating Competition division three debate, STFA Tam Pak Yu College matched up against Kowloon Sam Yuk Secondary School to tackle the motion 'Hong Kong isn't doing enough to take care of its poor'. Tam Pak Yu took the affirmative view and Sam Yuk the negative.

Argued with emotion

Better presentation and more convincing arguments helped YWCA Hioe Tjo Yoeng College edge out Christian Alliance Cheng Wing Gee College in the third round of the 12th Nesta-SCMP Debating Competition.

The schools debated the motion: 'public, performing animal shows are beneficial.' Cheng Wing Gee took the affirmative side and Hioe Tjo Yoeng the negative.
